Cleveland: Beet Jar

Beet Jar has got to be Cleveland’s most serene + deliciously apt vegan establishment.

Beet Jar has two locations, the flagship spot in Ohio City & the second smaller location within the east side’s Van Aken District Market. Both are homeruns, but make sure to attend the original location for an experiential vegan vibes check; the curated grocery section (in addition to their to-go/a la carte items mingled with artistically sleek shop items) is stellar for vegans with the foresight for munchies later.

Beet Jar’s Ohio City location has a lobby curated with the hippest selection of artsy cards, reusable bags, books, vinyl, etc. all ready to peruse while I waited for my sandwich order. I was a wolf with this sandwich, a total treat featuring scratch-made seitan from Black Market Meats (or scope out their Instagram) and unbelievably fresh-baked bread from Leavened (or their Instagram).

*Tender sidenote (*because I’ll gloat about solid humans if I want to) – The owners/chefs of Beet Jar are some of Cleveland’s most wonderful people, pivotal to our city’s vegan culture.
