Grandma Bob’s Pizza is the mandatory vegan destination for Detroit-style pizza: end of story.

As a Clevelander, Grandma Bob’s Pizza was recommended to me by cheffing clients, as the mandatory destination for Detroit-style pizza. Detroit is known for its own epic standard of pizza features. As an out-of-towner I naturally peeped at the Grandma Bob’s menu ahead of time and had laid out a road map of what was going to be essential: landing on the (cashew-based) cheesy version of garlic bread and a pistachio and vegan sausage pie that has haunted my dreams ever since. The crispy flecks of edges on the deep dish square cut pie were as good as gold.

Fun fact it’s physically impossible to eat Grandma Bob’s Pizza without clenching your thumb to your ring finger in a chef’s kiss claw. Must visit spot in Detroit for the pizza oven aromas if nothing else & gawk over the curated selection of vintage Pyrex and Fiestaware adorning Grandma Bob’s extensive onsite bar.
